I'm happy to report a bunch more paintings this month. Admittedly it wasn't the 30 that I was aiming to complete, but I did manage to create more paintings this month than any other this year. I completed 10 paintings, more than double the previous record of 4 in August.
In terms of these paintings the month started out strong, with a 4 day streak. After that though, things started to slow down heavily. I created a few more earlier in the month before stopping altogether. Near the end of the month and feeling a bit of the pressure that brings, I started painting again.

Reflecting on my experiences with these paintings I noticed a few things. As before, painting earlier in the day was a lot more pleasant than last thing in the evening. Something new that I noticed was my laptop would struggle with painting and recording sometimes, and that would slow down my brush strokes to the point where my actual strokes were not being registered properly. In some cases they weren't being registered at all. I suspect these issues created a bit of frustration and thus a negative association with painting. Certainly I could stop recording my painting sessions, though I really don't want to do that, since I can use my recordings to make interesting videos for YouTube in future.

After doing some digging on my laptop I found that both recording and painting was overheating my laptop. I don't remember this being such a big problem before, and I don't really know what changed. However I did find a few things that helped reduce the severity of the overheating. Also I learned to simply accept it and whenever it happened I would simply pause my timer and stop recording to let my laptop cool down. Then I would just continue when my laptop was cooler again. Overall perhaps not the drastic change I was hoping for this month, but still I'm quite happy I improved to making 10 paintings this month.

My habit of working on my story ideas has continued strong this month as well. I'm finally nearing the end of my current process on that front, and then can move on to another piece of the puzzle. The other habits I've developed from my prototype gamification app have continued strong too. These include my daily journaling and job applications. I would still like to explore my analytical side and grow my analytical skills and have sent 240 applications to date.
At some point this month I decided to go for gold and try reach the top of the ladder for Diamond League in Duolingo. I managed to snatch poll position in the last hour, but then a contender started racing for my spot too. We ended up sprinting through lessons, a race that lasted up to the last 30 seconds of that league. By then it was clear my small remaining margin was something the contender could not overcome in those last seconds, and so I earned 2 achievements in Duolingo. These were some of the last achievements left in the app for me, and I was pretty glad I made that push.
If any of these paintings pique your interest and you want to know more about them, you can click/press them and it should take to you that painting in my digital gallery.
