This is a tutorial series to help absolute beginners take their first steps into the world of creation. With this tutorial series, the aim is for you to be able to draw anything.
You won't be a master right away, but you will learn the foundations to make an attempt at drawing or painting anything you want, be it people, animals, trees, etc.
Learning to create art is iterative in nature.
As you practice making more drawings or paintings, you will naturally improve your mind's ability to use the art fundamentals taught in this tutorial series to make more interesting art. Certainly your muscle memory will improve.
Over the years, I found a key to long term growth is lowering my expectations. When I have lower expectations for the quality of my artwork, I have less stress and can enjoy the process of creation more. With my 1000 paintings, the goal is to only have complete paintings, ideally being clear in the story I am trying to tell with each painting. I'm not aiming for many painting to look good. If that happens, great! Otherwise, it's all good too. This way, I don't feel bad after trying my best. Of course there will always be artists who make better artwork than me, but comparison is the thief of joy.
If at any point during the tutorial series, you have any questions, feel free to leave them as a comment, either under the YouTube video or under the relevant page on my website.
This tutorial series covers these art fundamentals:
Storytelling
Basic Shapes
Composition
Value
Colour Theory
Currently this series is a work in progress. As I complete sections of the series I will update here and on YouTube.
How can I claim to teach beginners how to make art of anything?
I have been drawing for many years, and have walked the path of a beginner myself. I also have experience teaching in other fields. But most of all, this is still an experiment. I will make changes to the tutorial series based on feedback from you. So your feedback is really important! :D
