Hello again
The last post was a few days ago, but I'd like to keep these blog posts on schedule, relatively speaking ... when I do remember to do them.
Here I want to talk about the stuff I skipped in my last post. Namely, the work I have done on my stories, the project I hinted at in my October post, and video editing for my tennysonpaints YouTube channel.
In terms of my stories, I reached WorldAnvil's limit for free accounts. Right now, I do not want to publish the articles I write, since they are full of spoilers. So I have been saving them all as drafts. However WorldAnvil only allows 20 draft articles for free accounts. Obviously I want to create more articles, but I don't want to pay any money.
The solution is very simple; I just made a new free website on Wix.com. For now, the details of this site will remain a secret. I can say I have written quite a bit more since I transferred all my story ideas and information from World Anvil.
I have also made some progress on the gamification project I mentioned in October. Over the years I have enjoyed playing games a lot. Games are fun, sometimes perhaps a bit more than real life. Sometimes a lot more than real life. In the last few months I found myself playing games more than I would like, given there are plenty of other things I want to work on too. This is probably an idea I would have had in the distant past, when I was a child.
I mean, come on, who wouldn't want real life to be more like a fun game?
It's taken a while for childhood me's dreams to catch up to current day me's skills. Back then, making something to gamify my life sounded impossible. Yet, I have my actuarial training to thank for my basic coding skills and all round mental rigour. The above screenshot is the title screen for the little prototype I've been building. Currently this is just in MS Excel, because I can. If I do find this prototype useful after I complete it, I may also consider making it again properly, instead of in an excel workbook.
Oh, yes. And finally video editing. More on that next month.
