In my previous blog I mentioned that I started learning about Google Analytics and social media analytics for each platform.
This ties into the second reason for the 1000 Paintings. Going through the process of doing the 1000 Paintings and sharing the journey online is meant to help me better understand the internet and social media. Many of my stories are best told through something like web comics. And this should help keep costs down while allowing me to share my stories with as many people as possible for free.
However, some of these stories are best told through other mediums, like movies, TV series, games, etc. I won't be able to tell those stories for free (making a movie is very expensive), unless I do everything myself ... I don't think you'd want to see a movie where I play every role and also do all the editing, sound stuff, etc.
So if I'm going to make those stories come to fruition, I'm probably going to need to learn how to find a bunch of people who would be interested in seeing those stories come to life and help fund and/or work with me on those projects.
Also, my background is in actuarial science and data analytics, and I would like to use my expertise from those fields to help with these personal projects.
On the art creation side, I've also been busy with a few more ink drawings. These are mostly in the form of more Inktober52 drawings, and one entry as a return to the roots of my ink drawing project, #Inksplore.
This month I visited Kaohsiung City's Pier 2 Art Centre and found a book by Stanley Lau (Artgerm). It was really cool seeing digital art I grew up looking at come to life in the real world.
The basic idea behind my ink drawing project was encouragement to go outside and explore the world more. That's something I tend not to do since my hobbies mostly revolve around sitting in front of my computer. A problem I was having before with drawing from life was that conditions weren't always great for drawing. For example, I might find a beautiful building that I wanted to draw, but there was nowhere nearby to sit and draw. Standing and drawing in the wind was usually not fun. The other main problem I had was that when I did go out, I felt pressured to find something interesting to draw, and then spend the time to draw it.
As a solution, I've decided to simply try go outside more, and take lots of photos whenever I see something interesting. Then, I can create ink drawings based on those photos at home. It's not quite the same as learning via life drawings, but if it gets me having fun outside more, it gets me to my original goal for this project. Plus, I still do get to practice a different set of drawing skills.
Preparations for my stories are coming along with World Anvil. I've typed up basic summaries for a few more stories in a few more worlds this month. There are plenty more that I have left to write, and then I can start playing around with World Anvil and specific stories a bit more.
Finally, in the last few days, I also started toying around with a new idea. Essentially it's an attempt to gamify these creative projects to improve consistency in my output. We'll see how the idea progresses through the month of October. If I make something more of this idea, I'll explain it a bit more next month.
